The 2009/10 2XU Australian Junior Triathlon Series is for endorsed ITU Junior (16-19) athletes only and consists of the following four races;

2XU Super Sprint Race Weekend, 11-13 December 2009 Runaway Bay, QLD.

Followed by 2XU National Junior Development Camp (13-16 December)

* All the above events (excluding the 2XU Super Sprint Race Weekend) consist of a Sprint Distance Triathlon (750m swim/20km cycle/5km run) on fully closed multi-loop courses and are draft legal.

NB - The above series is for athletes aged 16-19 years of age as at 31 December 2010 (ie born in the years 1991, 1992, 1993 or 1994 only).

Friday 11 December

1pm - Swim Meet - 50 Free, 100 Free & 200 Free
3pm - Track Meet – 1000m Run (Heats & Final) – 16-18 per race
6pm – Aquathlon – Swim 400m/Run 2km

Saturday 12 December

9am - Super Sprint Triathlon – Swim 300m /Bike 8km (4 Laps)/Run 2km
2pm – Bike Crit - Bike 8-10km (4-5 Laps) w. “Le Mans style ” start w. 400m run in shoes incl. transition
5pm – Teams Relay Triathlon – 4 x (Swim 100m/Bike 4km/Run 800m) – 2 males & 2 females per team.

Sunday 13 December

8am - Super Sprint Triathlon GRAND FINAL - Swim 300m /Bike 8km (4 Laps)/Run 2km
1pm - BBQ and Presentation Ceremony.
3 pm - National JNR Dev Camp Commences

Monday 14 December (National JNR Dev Camp)

SWIM – 1km TT (forms part of TT requirements)
BIKE – Power & Skill Assessments w. Drag Races over 100m “Hot Dog” Course (4 laps) – use time for results and an assessment tool for athlete/coach feedback!

Tuesday 15 December (National JNR Dev Camp)

X-Country/Mystery Run – Coomabah?

Wednesday 16 December (National JNR Dev Camp)

Teams Relay Triathlon – 10 x (Swim 100m/Bike 4km/Run 800m) – in camp teams!



**Oceania Youth Olympics Qualifier - Canberra Challenge (23-24 January 2010)

This is the Oceania qualifier for the 2010 Youth Olympic Games (for eligible athletes).
This race also earns points towards 2XU Australian Junior Triathlete of the Year Award & possible Selection Race for 2010 Budapest World Championships (TBC).
The Canberra Challenge race is open to all ITU Junior athletes (16-19) but only athletes who are 17 or 18 years of age in 2010 (ie born in 1992 or 1993) are eligible for YOG in Singapore.
The ITU have only allocated 1 male spot and 1 female spot for the Oceania region at the 2010 YOG.
Individual races will be conducted on Saturday afternoon and a Teams Relay will be conducted on Sunday morning either before or following the AG races.
Teams Relay team consist of 2 males & 2 females in a 4 x (300m Swim/8km Bike/2km Run) in State Teams vs NZL. States/NZL can enter as many teams as they wish.
Any remaining athletes from bigger states or smaller states will be placed into combined relay teams (ie WA&TAS or ACT&SA etc) for this event.
